Exclusive Interview: Richest Indian player at IPL 2018 Auction Jaydev Unadkat says his hardwork is being recongised

Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat was picked for Rs 11.5 crore, becoming the costliest Indian player in 2018 at the IPL auction 2018. He was also the second-costliest player overall at the auction behind Ben Stokes, who went for Rs 12.5 crore. In the last one year, Unadkat has turned it around for himself. In IPL 2017, he scalped 24 wickets in 12 matches. It was followed by India call up after a long back.

You are the second-richest player at the auction this year. What are your thoughts on that?

It is an incredible feeling. Think my hard work has been accepted by one and all but now it is important to get on the field and give my best. This is why I play cricket. Money is amazing but it has to be backed by performances. I will give my best for Rajasthan Royals.

The last few months have been sweet to you. Getting India call and now the huge IPL price. What's your take?

Yes, the hard work is being paid off. But it is just a start. I have a long way to go and win more matches for the country and whichever side I play for internationally, in IPL and domestic cricket.

What do you have to say on the team Rajasthan Royals have built?

It is a great team. We have a great balance of players. You can see a nice balance between the foreign and home players. I am excited to be a part of the squad and will look forward to be playing with great talents from all around the world.
